Doing projects in schools is a great way of educating the students while making them active in the community. Some projects can be unproductive though depending on what the goals are for the project. In the documentary called paper clips some could argue that the education of the students was limited with what they were trying to achieve. My thoughts from watching the movie is that the goal was mostly on collecting the paper clips to demonstrate the gross number that 6 million really is. This in return did bring in holocaust survivors who in return shared their own personal experiences. One question that should be asked is, should this information be presented to kids who are only in 8th grade to this extent? Are these kids mature enough to handle this information? If the kids aren't mature enough then the information that is being presented wont be learned by the kids. The message wont be understood in a way that is appropriate for there age. I feel that with this project it was a good hands on way to learn about the holocaust but not for that particular age group. I feel that the message of diversity was lost with the impact of all the information that was being layed upon them. In the end, as far as i know, they did not assess them on the information that they should have learned. Wrapping this all up i feel that this would have been a great project for older kids but was just to much for that age group of kids.
